Kiritani Shuji is the popular guy who gets along with everyone,
from the jerks to the nerds to the just plain weird. The one person
Shuji cannot stand is Kusano Akira. To Shuji, Akira is just
plain annoying. He laughs, talks and acts funny. Things heat up when a
new student comes to school. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl
who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of
and bullied in school. Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order
to make use of their "youth" they will "produce" Nobuko as the next
popular girl. One of the conditions, however, is that nobody should
find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept
possible. Unveiled here is the story of true friendship between three
unlikely candidates who would not have been friends if not given the
special circumstances.

The acting in this show was very good. The story is interesting but not very special, the actors really did an amazing job at conveying the soul of the story.
I really loved that they didn't make everything into a love story, it was great just to watch a show about friendship, to see people overcoming their stigmas and breaking out what was expected of them.
I really loved the start of the show, when he is talking to himself on his bike, it really touched me and made me want to watch the rest of the show.
I would have to say this is one of my favorite dramas I have seen so far.
Romance seekers, this is not your drama, Drama addicts, this is something you cannot pass up. Any romance is very slim, it is not the theme of this drama, rather, this drama is a story of change, a reminder that life is not set in stone and anyone can become whatever they want. Take for example the Nobuta of this story, Kotani Nobuko, nicknamed Nobuta. She has become a shell of a person, scarred by childhood bullying, and an embarassment of calling her father "father" only to have him reply that he's not really her father, as a child she was unaware of what this meant, but the embarassment of it seems to have greatly affected her. As such, at the time of the story, she has become a shell, a student merely existing, hoping to get through each day until the end. At the other end we have Shuji, undoubtedly the most popular kid in school, with a hidden ulterior motive, viewing this whole thing as a game to play, he has discovered the rules of high school, waht to do to make everyone like you, and believes he can manipulate the situation all the time. To complete the trio of this drama, we have the dreamer, Akira, son of a wealthy rich businessman, the complete opposite of the stuck up, snobby rich people many are accustomed to seeing in dramas. Together all 3 of these people change. On the surface is the transformation of Nobuta, from a bullied submissive girl willing to change, to a girl comfortable with people and the social life. However, simple this drama is not, the bigger story is shuji. In a classic student surpasses the teacher, as Nobuta's popularity begins to increase, Shuji's true view of life slowly comes to the surface. We can watch as his popularity pummets, from the beloved to the unloved, as he has to grow and rebuild, the teacher has become himself a student. There's also a hidden force behind the scenes also manipulating things.
Mystery, drama, growth, character development, this drama does it perfectly. About the only complaint i can forsee is, the slightly slow pace of the drama, and the fact there's just about no romance in this drama. otherwise, it's well casted, enjoyable plot, wonderful music. Watch it, you won't really have any regrets
Your run-of-the-mill high school story about being unsure about the future, making good friends, and having no regrets. All that blah with a mystery twist and plenty of memorable quotes.
Acting:
I seriously think this drama only did well because of the actors. Without their wonderful performance this drama would've been completely dry because admit it; the story isn't that great.
Music:
This another thing that really helped the drama. The music was outstanding! From beginning to end it was the music and the actors that were able to make this otherwise boring story into the fad that it became.
Overall:
The drama definitely is a good one, but only because of the above stated reasons. Not on my favourites list. Still worth the watch.
Watch it for the exceptionally cute and legendary AKIRA and his list of infamous quotes. Kon kon! ^.^
